The Gospel According To LOST - A Book Review
I’m a big fan of the TV show LOST. I’ve thrown LOST season premier parties. I once backed sugar cookies shaped like fish with red food coloring and called them “fish biscuits” in honor of Sawyer’s time locked in a cage. LOST had me from the first episode. From Jack Shepard bruised and bloody staring into the sky to wondering of the bomb went off, LOST is one of the best shows on TV period.
I recently got the chance to read The Gospel According to LOST (TGA2L) by Pastor Chris Seay of Ecclesia. I have to admit, I’m not a fan of books that take something and try to “Christianize” it. With a title like TGA2L I was a bit nervous. I’m thankful that Chris Seay didn’t not go down that road. TGA2L is a conversation. For us LOST fans there have been many… many… many… conversations tying together connections and finding meaning in symbols. Seay takes many of the things we’ve been discussing these last five seasons and compiles them into one comprehensive text. Seay looks specifically at the biblical connections to the LOST characters and story and looks at how each of their stories reveals a little bit more about ourselves.
TGA2L is a great read but is not for those who haven’t been watching LOST since the get go. New readers will feel a little (no pun intended) lost at times. Overall Seay is a great writer and TGA2L does not disappoint.
